Sungai Petani (12June 2026) — A TikTok livestream of a fatal crash led police to arrest two men after viewers spotted what appeared to be a pistol in the wreckage on Wednesday (10June).
The object was seen inside a Nissan Grand Livina that collided with a motorcycle along Jalan Lencongan Barat, Laguna, Merbok here, at about 7pm, Harian Metro reported.
“Police watching the live broadcast rushed to the scene and detained two men,” Kuala Muda police chief Assistant Commissioner Hanyan Ramlan said.
The driver, 37, from George Town, Penang, and passenger, 35, from Ayer Hitam, Penang, tested positive for drugs. The driver has 16 prior drug offences and one criminal record; the passenger has seven.
A 67-year-old motorcyclist from Taman Ria died at the scene from head injuries.
Both men will be remanded Thursday under the 1960 Arms Act and 1987 Road Transport Act for possession of an imitation firearm and causing death by dangerous/drug driving.
