Sze Fei-Izzuddin win Indonesian Open after stunning comeback
Men’s doubles shuttlers Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin Rumsani ended Malaysia’s 18-year wait for a men’s doubles champion at the Indonesian Open after they delivered a stunning comeback to beat home players Raymond Indra-Nikolaus Joaquin on Sunday (June 7).
World No. 8 Sze Fei-Izzuddin fought their way from a game down to win 13-21, 21-19, 21-10 in 49 minutes against world No. 12 Raymond-Nikolaus at the Istora Senayan in Jakarta.
Sze Fei-Izzuddin also ended Malaysia’s wait for a men’s doubles champion at the tournament after Mohd Zakry Abdul Latif-Fairuzizuan Tazari last won in 2008.
The Malaysians added to their Super 1000 tally after winning the China Open in 2024.
Sze Fei-Izzuddin have now defeated Raymond-Nikolaus twice in three meetings, with their previous encounter also coming in Jakarta as Sze Fei-Izzuddin won their Indonesian Masters final match in January.
